Our intention is to share the world of Shibari with a broader audience, beyond the realms of BDSM; with people who are looking for ways to enhance their relationships through exploration and an intimate experience based in trust, with an added twist of kink! We are seeking to further dispel the image of bondage as existent only in a seedy dark dungeon or via internet bondage pornography. These are only one end of a large spectrum of rope play. We celebrate the historical, artistic, sensual art of Japanese rope bondage.

Kanso (簡素)

Kanso is a teacher, performer and visual artist of Japanese rope bondage (Shibari). He was first introduced to the world of Shibari while visiting Japan 2006 and has spent the last 10 years refining his rope practice and skills.

In 2010 he met True Blue and together they created Bondage Erotique with the intent of introducing a more sensual and intimate approach to rope bondage. He has taught rope intensives in NYC, L.A. Atlanta, Dallas, Portland, San Antonio, D.C, etc, and has performed at corporate events, art shows & festivals across the U.S.

Kanso is currently the resident rope instructor at the SF Armory and teaches a year-long curriculum taking students from beginner through to suspension. He continues to offer several on-going monthly classes and events in his hometown of San Francisco. He is also the co-founder of BARE (the Bay Area Rope Exchange), which hosts rope parties and puts on highly popular bondage performances at the Folsom Street Fair annually.

Blue (青)

I grew up on the shore and spent many an hour staring out to sea as a young girl. I am sure this has contributed to my everlasting wanderlust, my romantic sense of contemplation, and my need to explore all things on the edge. On the water's edge, began my journey! Always curious, and always with an affinity for those things marginal and misfit, I relished taking the things the world around me called dark and shameful, and bringing them to the light. I crossed over high Himalayan mountain passes, worked in orphanages in Vietnam and India, and immersed myself in meditation and Buddhist studies. I ran away with a vaudevillian road show and spent 10 years as a burlesque dancer, loving a medium that blends sexuality, aesthetic, and performance art. I am always more lit-up when an artistic line accompanies a sensual gesture, and so was thrilled to discover Japanese rope bondage. My study of and commitment to this rich and historical art began when I found Kanso two years ago. We thoroughly believe this exploration has been a great tool in our relationship for furthering intimacy, trust and fun, and seek to relay that through our classes.
