Bondage Erotique has developed a series of workshops to facilitate a deeper understanding and practical knowledge of Japanese Rope Bondage. Classes build upon each other, and great focus is placed on both the technique and the energy behind the technique. The format is intensively hands-on, with continuous feedback and individual attention from the instructors.

Included in our introductory workshops is an overview of the history of Japanese rope bondage, of rope varieties and rope care. We thoroughly cover safety, signs and symptoms, do's and don'ts. As a couple, we also present segments on 'The Sensual Dominant' and 'The Responsible Bottom', which weave in our own experiences, gathered wisdoms, philosophical interpretations, and spicy tips.

If you are interested in private instruction for singles or coupleshosting a workshop, or having us perform for your event, please contact us directly for details at info@bondage-erotique.com.

The Art of Beautiful Suffering: A Japanese Approach to Predicament Bondage

In this class we focus on the physical and psychological aspects of a rope session based in the Japanese concept of Semenawa (predicament rope play). This concept goes beyond the idea of embracing or restraining your partner with rope; the rope itself is used to create many different sensations ranging from tantalizing agony to edgy ecstasy. Semenawa itself doesn’t point towards specific ties, floor work or suspension, it is more the concept behind how the rope is used. This is approached with a Japanese eye for line, aesthetic and asymmetry, creating shapes and situations that are truly beautiful suffering.

To demonstrate this concept we teach several floor ties showing how practitioners can integrate Semenawa into their rope session. Hair bondage, leg/foot ties, and non-verbal communication technique with the rope are amongst some of the predicament concepts to be explored.
